VB: Cowgirls Drop SLC Opener To UTRGV

LAKE CHARLES—McNeese volleyball dropped its Southland Conference opener in straight sets (25-23, 25-16, 25-12) to UTRGV Wednesday night, snapping the Cowgirls four match winning streak.

"We were uncleaned in this match," said head coach Tayler Gray.  "I didn't think we handled ourselves behind the service line and we didn't handle the service pressure and maybe that falls on me.  We scouted them well and the types of serve they would have but for whatever reason our first contact across the board was poor."

McNeese (4-8, 0-1 SLC) was led in kills by Kayla Wilson's 11 kills.  Wilson was the only Cowgirls that managed to pick up at least 10 kills.  Setters Corynne Hausler and Megan Grose continued to dish out 10 or more assists apiece.  Hausler ended the match with 15 and Grose had 10.  Sophia Tocmo continued her streak of double figure digs to 11 matches with 10 digs to lead the Cowgirls.
