LAKE CHARLES – McNeese Cowgirl soccer (6-5-0, 1-1-0) picked up a 3-2 Southland Conference victory over Stephen F. Austin (4-7-0, 1-1-0) Thursday night in its conference home opener, marking the Cowgirls' first win over the Ladyjacks since 2019.

The Cowgirls struck early when Rhiannon Maynes-Tourond connected with Emma Korhonen in the third minute of play to give McNeese an early 1-0 lead.

Stephen F. Austin would tie the game at 1-1 in the 22nd minute when Lucie Platt found the back of the net on a penalty kick.

Isabella Baltov connected with Gabbi Barusic in the 32nd minute to give the Cowgirls a 2-1 lead heading into halftime.

Quickly out of the half, Rhiannon Maynes-Tourond scored her fourth goal of the season in the 46th minute to give the Cowgirls a 3-1 edge over the Ladyjacks.

The Ladyjacks wouldn't back down, as Andrea Delgado connected with Sawyer Kohutek for the final goal of the evening.
