2017: Returned to the Cowboys after a two-year hiatus and led the team in punting while ranking fifth in the league with a 40.1 average... tied Don Stump’s school record long punt of 81 yards in the season finale at Lamar... pinned 22 punts inside the 20 yard line, third-most in the conference, and booted seven punts that went 50 yards or more
2015-16: Did not play football as he transferred back to LSU to take classes.Â
2014: Led the Cowboys in scoring with 62 total points after hitting eight field goals and 38 extra points... connected on 38 of 41 PAT attempts and was 8 for 10 in field goals with a long of 31... hit 2 FGs and 7 PATs against Arkansas Tech... made 20 consecutive PATs in the season at one point.
Prior to McNeese:Â Signed with LSU out of high school but had a redshirt season in 2013.
High School: All-state as both a kicker and punter at St. Louis Catholic High School under head coach Mike Johns... also earned all-district and All-Southwest Louisiana honors... a perfect 17 of 17 in extra points and was 8 of 11 in field goals... recorded 30 touchbacks in 32 kickoff attempts... averaged 43.2 yards per punt... selected to play in the Bayou Bowl... also a standout soccer player and helped lead the Saints to four consecutive state championships (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013)... earned all-state honors in 2011-13 and was named the 2013 Louisiana Player of the Year as well as earned NSCA All-American honors.
Other: born July 7, 1995 in Paris, France... son of Johan Kjellsten and Allie Ieyoub... one sister, Olivia Kjellsten... his father, Johan, was a standout tennis player for McNeese from 1985-88 before finishing his career at LSU when McNeese dropped the program prior to the 1989 season... he helped the Cowboys to the 1987 Southland Conference team championship and was the league singles champion in 1985 (flight one), and back-to-back champion in flight two in 1987 and 1988... also flight two doubles champion in 1987 and was a three-time first team all-conference selection... at LSU, he posted 38 wins which currently ranks No. 3 on the school’s all-time single-season singles wins list... SLC Commissioner’s 2017 Fall Academic Honor Roll.
