Cass Hargis enters his first season as a part of Coach Hill’s staff, becoming the Offensive Coordinator/Hitting Coach/Outfield Coach/3rd Base Coach.
Hargis comes to McNeese from Holy Cross High Scholl in New Orleans where he was the head baseball coach for the last three seasons.
As the head coach of the Tigers, he averaged 21 wins a season, made the State Semi-Finals twice, in 2017 and 2018, and was American Legion State Runner-up in 2016.
In 2017, he was inducted into the Southeastern Louisiana University Athletic Hall of Fame where he played centerfield for the Lions. Hargis earned his degree and played four years of baseball at SE Louisiana from 2008-2011.
In those years, he was named a 2008 Louisville Slugger/PING Basbeall Freshman All-American, was a two-time member of the All-Conference Teams (2008, 2009), and is Southeastern La.’s all time leader in hits, runs, and triples, and is second all time in doubles.
Also during his playing years, Coach Hill was the pitching coach for the Lions.
After graduating, Hargis became an Assistant Coach at Southeastern La. in 2013 helping lead them to a 35-ein season and a birth to the Southland Conference Championship Game.
In 2014, Hargis went back to St. Thomas Aquinas as the Assistant Baseball/Football coach in Hammond, LA where after leaving in 2012.
