Benjamin Mouton joined the McNeese staff prior to the 2026 season and will coach linebackers, one year after serving in the same role at Southland rival Nicholls.
In his one season with the Colonels, Mouton coached All-SLC first team linebacker Jake Dalmado who led the Colonels and ranked 6th in the league with 101 tackles, 7.5 tackles for a loss and 3.5 sacks. The Colonels ranked No. 5 n the Southland Conference in total defense (342.7 ypg) and No. 2 in passing defense (166.3 ypg).
Mouton went to Nicholls after spending one year at ULL as outside linebackers analyst. In his lone season at ULL, the Ragin' Cajuns won 10 games to claim the Sun Belt West Division title, and made appearances in the Sun Belt Championship game and the New Mexico Bowl.
Prior to his season at ULL, Mouton began his coaching career in the high school ranks in the Lafayette area. He served as the defensive coordinator at Comeaux for four years before holding the same position at Southside from 2020-23.
Mouton graduated from UL in 2016 with a business education degree.
