Blaine Gautier, a former ULL Ragin’ Cajun football standout and offensive analyst at LSU, is in his second season on the McNeese football staff, serving as the team’s wide receivers coach.
A native of Edgard, Louisiana, Gautier spent five seasons at LSU and was part of the 2019 National Championship team that will arguably go down as one of the best performances in college football history.
This marks Gautier’s first one-the-field college job and re-uniting him with Frank Wilson. The two were on staff at LSU in 2015.
In the spring of 2021, Gautier coached All-Conference wideout Josh Matthews who led the team in both receptions (32) and receiving yards (458), ranking second in the Southland Conference in both categories. He also ranked fourth in the league with four TD catches.
A graduate of Lutcher High School, Gautier played quarterback for four seasons at ULL (2009-2012), throwing for 4,159 yards and 32 touchdowns, while rushing for 883 yards and 12 scores.

He set a single-game record with 492 yards of total offense vs. San Diego State in the New Orleans Bowl while his 470 passing yards in that game ranks as the second-highest total in school history, three short of the record. He earned second team All-Sun Belt Conference honors as a junior, along with first team All-Louisiana and Louisiana Offensive Player of the Year accolades by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.
At Lutcher HS, he earned first team all-state honors as a senior after throwing for 2,743 yards and 30 touchdowns and became the first-ever recipient of the Warrick Dunn Player of the Year Award, which is presented by WAFB-TV in Baton Rouge.
