Jaden Sawyer is in his first season on the McNeese football coaching staff and will be in charge of coaching the Cowboy cornerbacks.
A 2017 graduate from the University of Nevada, Sawyer previously coached DBs at Louisiana-Lafayette.
Sawyer began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at his alma mater in 2018. As a player for the Wolfpack from 2013-17, Sawyer saw time in 47 games with 17 starts in the Pack’s defensive backfield. His best season came in 2016 when he totaled a career-high 49 tackles on the year with a team-high eight pass deflections and snagged two interceptions. For his career Sawyer made 100 total tackles, 7.0 of which were for a loss, had 11 pass deflections, three interceptions, forced a fumble and recovered another.

A native of San Jose, Calif., Sawyer earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Nevada in public health in 2017.Â
