Jaden Sawyer is in his second season on the McNeese football coaching staff and coaches the cornerbacks.
In 2025, the Cowboys ranked fourth in the Southland Conference with 12 pass interceptions. Cornerback Mason Edwards topped the team with nine pass break-ups and was fourth on the squad with 46 total tackles.Â
A 2017 graduate from the University of Nevada, Sawyer previously coached DBs at Louisiana-Lafayette.
Sawyer began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at his alma mater in 2018. As a player for the Wolfpack from 2013-17, Sawyer saw time in 47 games with 17 starts in the Pack’s defensive backfield. His best season came in 2016 when he totaled a career-high 49 tackles on the year with a team-high eight pass deflections and snagged two interceptions. For his career Sawyer made 100 total tackles, 7.0 of which were for a loss, had 11 pass deflections, three interceptions, forced a fumble and recovered another.

A native of San Jose, Calif., Sawyer earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Nevada in public health in 2017.Â
