2018: Reserve running back and special teams contributor appeared in each of the first six games before missing the rest of the season with an injury … Had 185 rushing yards and one touchdown on 24 rushes, highlighted by an 11-carry, 150-yard game with a 73-yard touchdown against Gardner-Webb … Of the App State players who have rushed for at least 150 yards in a game, the only instances that required fewer than Hicks’ 11 carries involved Jimmy Watkins (nine rushes for 164 yards against VMI in 2000), Robert Welton (10 carries for 161 yards against Jacksonville in 2008) and Armanti Edwards (nine rushes for 152 yards against Chattanooga in 2008). Like Watkins and Welton, Hicks came off the bench … Also rushed five times for 22 yards against South Alabama, five times for 6 yards against Charlotte and three times for 7 yard against Louisiana … Had one catch against Charlotte and totaled four tackles, including two on special teams against Louisiana … With backfield injuries, moved from cornerback to running back in the spring of 2018.

2017: Redshirt season.

High School: Early enrollee ... Three-star prospect at defensive back by both Scout.com and 247Sports … One of the most versatile athletes in the App State signing class after playing quarterback as a senior. Also played cornerback, running back and wide receiver during his career at Charlotte High School … A three-time all-area selection at the 6A level … Earned all-state honorable mention honors at QB … Threw for 1,219 yards with 12 touchdowns, and ran for over 500 yards with eight TDs at QB as a senior to lead his team to a 12-1 record and the state semifinals … Had one interception in limited time at DB as a senior … Had eight interceptions and over 100 tackles in two seasons as a DB prior to moving to quarterback … Also played baseball and ran track at Charlotte High School … Also saw interest from Boston College, Southern Miss, South Florida, Marshall and Coastal Carolina.

Personal: Full name is D’Andre Tyrece Hicks … Son of Elgin and Alpha Hicks … Born Sept. 2, 1998 … Has one brother, Cheaven, and one sister, Aryana … Father, Elgin, played football at Florida and South Florida before playing for the Indianapolis Colts.
