Tevon Saddler, who spent the previous two seasons as the director of operations at Nicholls under head coach Austin Claunch and had a hand in helping the Colonels win the Southland Conference championship last season, is making his debut on the McNeese coaching staff.
"Tevon was a player that I recruited when I was at Nicholls, took a chance on me and our program, and ultimately helped us win a championship," stated McNeese head coach John Aiken. "He has been a huge part of my life for the last five years as I've watched him grow as a young man. He's great at developing perimeter players and he'll bring an expectation to win to our program. He is the ultimate winning guy."
Saddler joined Nicholls in the summer of 2019, serving as the program's Director of Operations.
Prior to returning back to his alma mater, Saddler spent 2018-2019 season as a Graduate Assistant at the University of South Alabama where he worked with All-Sun Belt talents Trhae Mitchell and Josh Ajeyi on a daily basis. He was required to train the redshirt transfer players, including Josh Ayeni, Don Coleman and Andre Fox.
Saddler received his Master of Science in Sports Management from the University of South Alabama in just 13 months, graduating from the program in July 2019.
Saddler started his career at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro, earning SoCon Freshman of the Year and clinching back-to-back All-Conference selections before transferring to play at Nicholls. In his lone season with the Colonels, he helped lead them to their first conference championship in two decades while also earning a spot on the All-Southland team.
Saddler received his Bachelors in Sociology from Nicholls in May 2018.
