Biography
Diego has been a "gym rat" all summer long, working on his shot and is expected to be on e of the best from three point range this season. His outside threat will be a key to the Cowboy offensive game this year. He has also improved his deensie skills and his overall play.
Junior Season
(2009-2010): named the team's outstanding player after ranking second in scoring and among the conference leaders in both three point shooting and free throw shooting accuracy....averaged 12.6 ppg....made 40.2 percent of his free throw attempts...moved up to fourth on all-time McNeese three point field goal made chart with 209...named SLC player of the week for performance against Rice (31 pts, 8 of 12 three point shots)...made 29 straight free throws at one point...scored in double figures 20 times.
Sophomore Season
(2008-2009): led team in scoring with an 11.7 average and was on of the top three point shooters in the league, ranking fourth in three point shots made with 70...also led team in free throw shooting and ranked second in the conference with .824 pct....27 points against Northwestern State was the most by any player in a league game that season...set school record by making nine three point shots in a single game...scored 26 points vs. Lamar and 24 points vs. Texas State
Freshman Season (2007-2008): ranked fourth on the team in scoring with a 7.3 average and led the team in three point shots made with 53...played in all 29 games and drew the starting assignment in one...top offensive effort had him scoring 24 points against Nicholls State...was seven of 11 from three point range in that game the the Colonels...the 24 points was the fourth highest among Cowboy players that season...was named the team's Newcomer of the Year (Peter Romero award)...connected on 53 o 11 three point shot for a 25.1 percentage...scored in double figures nene times and was in the 20's twice (21 vs Northwestern State)...ranked 18th in the conference in three point shooting percentage...averaged 8.1 points per game in league play only and scored 31 three field goals
Pre-McNeese:
Was a standout at King George High in
Vancouver… averaged 32 points, six rebounds and four assists per game his
senior year… team MVP each season… named to numerous tournament all-star teams…
led team to lower mainland championship… also ran cross country and played
soccer (striker)… was member of provincial championship cross country squad.
