Biography
Stephan Martin is a player who can turn a game around....he can score, can defend and will do whatever it takes to win. He has become the most valuable "sixth man" in the league....goes into year having made his last 10 free throws of 2009-2010 season.
Junior Season (2009-2010): played in all 30 games and started 10...third ranking scorer on the team with a 9.9 average and posted a 10.4 norm in conference games only.....led the conference in free throw shooting with a 91.4 percentage (32 of 35)...came off bench to lead team to 71-67 win SE Louisiana (19- points, five steals..seven of 12 FG's)..high of 24 points vs. Texas State and 23 vs. La. College...in double scoring figures 13 times.
Sophomore Season (2008-2009):
Played in all 29 games and started 15 of them, playing both the point and the second guard... averaged 6.6 points per game and connected on 78 percent of his free throws... scored in double figures eight times and twice in his last four... season high 15 points against Central Arkansas... was team's leading scorer in that game... hit 14 against both ULM, LSU and NW State... had top three point shooting pct. on the team (.371, .389 in SLC)... top three point game had him going three for four against Central Arkansas... third on the team in assists and steals.
Freshman Season (2007-2008):
came on strong as a rookie and appeared in 29 games, starting one of them... play both at the No. 1 and the No. 2 positions... averaged 3.4 points per game... was one of the first players off the bench... scored in double figures three times and had a career high 18 points against TAM-Corpus Christi, coming off the bench, helping to spearhead a 67-59 victory... he was almost perfect with his shooting in that game as he made six of seven field goals (four for four from three point range) and was two of two at the line in 17 minutes of action... also had 10 points against Dillard and 10 against Northwestern State... averaged just under four points per game in league contests only...was one of the top free throw shooters on the team, making 75 percent (24 of 32)... averaged 10 minutes of playing time.
Pre-McNeese:
standout at Lacassine High and one of the state’s leading scorers throughout his career... had a 26.5 career scoring average... twice named to all-state team... all-district three times and named SW Louisiana MVP twice... also the state long jump champion twice in track and field... averaged 24.5 points, 5.3 assists, 3.1 rebounds and three steals per game as a senior... scored 52 points in one game (vs. Converse)... led team to semifinals of state playoffs.
