Janell Fullerton, a record-holding thrower for the Cowgirls, will coach the throwers for McNeese.
After sustaining an injury, she decided to complete her Master's in Health and Human Performance at McNeese State University 2021-2023. She competed both indoor and outdoor seasons of 2022, she was crowned All-American Academic Athlete.
She currently holds the outdoor shot put record of (16.23 meters). Following that season, years of eligibility was exhausted, she worked alongside Coach Chretien as a volunteer for the 2022-2023 indoors and outdoors track and field season.
She assisted with conference champions and medalists; Marcus Francis (Shotput silver medalist), Ashari Jones (shot put bronze medalist), Reese Grossie (Discus bronze medalist and Hammer throw finalist), Tyler Challis (Hammer throw silver medalist, shot put, finalist, javelin throw finalist) and Mariah Lee (Hammer throw gold medalist and Weight throw silver medalist).Â
A graduate from Edwin Allen High School in 2015, Fullerton earned a scholarship to join the New Mexico Highlands University track and field team 2016-2017. Her freshman season (2016-2017) she was crowned the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Freshman Athlete of the Year.
She transferred to Clemson University (2018-2020) competed and graduated with her B.S. in Psychology. Continuing, she achieved the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Academic Honor Roll, ACC 2nd team performer and achieved a silver medal in the indoor shot put throw (16.35 meters). She made the Clemson’s top ten list with her throw of (16.35m indoors) and (16.26m outdoors), respectively.Â
