Amanda Clemons enters her second season as a Cowgirl assistant, joining the staff in May of 2019

Clemons spent five years as the head women’s basketball coach at LSUE where she guided the Bengals to two straight conference titles including a 22-4 record during the 2017-18 season.

“What a great addition to our program and McNeese Athletics," said head coach Kacie Cryer. "Amanda’s energy, passion, work ethic, success and love for her players made her the right fit for what we are building here at McNeese! Amanda did a tremendous job at LSUE during her time, where she took a losing program and turned it into a winning program, and we are looking for her to come in and help us continue our path of success at McNeese. We are very excited to add her experience and knowledge to an already great staff.”

Clemons was named the 2018-19 LCCAC Coach of the Year after guiding LSUE to a second consecutive undefeated conference record and its second consecutive LCCAC title with an 18-4 record before bowing out in the first round of the Region 23 Tournament.

Clemons, who was a guard at LSUE from 2001-2004 under the program's first head coach Kathy Barlow, also played at Louisiana College before a high school coaching career that includes being named the Louisiana Class 3A Coach of the Year in 2011.

After a playing career at LSUE and Louisiana College, Clemons earned her master's degree while serving as an assistant coach at Mississippi College, where she gained experience in recruiting student-athletes and monitoring academic performance in addition to on-court coaching.

As a high school head coach, she was named the District Coach of the Year, Parish Coach of the Year, and Louisiana Coach of the Year in 2011 after leading her team to a state finalist finish in her first season as a head coach.
