After a record-breaking career in the horizontal jumps and spending the 2019 season as a volunteer assistant coach in his specialty for the Cowboys, John Lemke joined the athletic staff in 2021 as the Director of Compliance.
Lemke was promoted to Director of Compliance/Athletic Business Operation in July of 2022 before another promotion in January 2023, made him an Associate Athletics Director, Business and Compliance.
The Lake Charles native, was a two-time, Southland Conference outdoor champion in the triple jump and a three-time NCAA East Preliminary Round qualifier (2015, 2016, 2018).
Lemke still holds the school record in the triple jump with a winning mark of 53-4.25 set in 2018 and he became the first Cowboy since 2006 to win gold in the triple jump for the outdoor season.
He capped off his collegiate career with a 15th place showing at the 2018 U.S. Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
He also won a gold medal in the triple jump at the 2017 league indoor meet where he also claimed a bronze medal in the long jump. Overall, Lemke won five medals in his career.
Lemke was also stellar in the classroom, having been named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District team and a three-time SLC All-Academic recipient.
John is married to the former McNeese basketball standout, Allison Baggett of Iota, LA.
