Yasmin Tan was named the head coach to of the inaugural Cowgirl program that began play in 2024. She recently completed her second year as the Cowgirls head coach.

In 2025, the Sandy Pokes improved to a 13-19 overall record, tallying 10 more wins than in her first season at the helm while sitting at 2-6 in SLC play. The squad earned its first Southland Conference Tournament victory over Nicholls 3-1 before narrowly falling to San Jose State 3-2 in the second elimination round.

Tan guided the Cowgirls to 3-22 overall record, going 1-6 in conference play. The Cowgirls made history with the program's first win (4-1) against Tarleton State on Feb. 23, 2024.  McNeese made history again on March 16, 2024 with the program's first conference win (4-1) over Nicholls. The Cowgirls also advanced to the SLC Tournament where they fell to Boise State and Southeastern.

In 2024, Tan also served as a Cowgirl Indoor Assistant Coach and will now concentrate on the beach squad. 

Tan joined McNeese in the fall of 2022, serving as a graduate assistant with the indoor team that tied for second place in the league standings and advanced to the Southland Conference semifinal round.

The indoor and beach volleyball standout is a native of Melbourne, Australia where she attended Yarra Valley Grammar School.
 
Tan spent two years as a member of the Boise State beach volleyball team where she helped the Broncos post the first 20-win season in program history with a 20-9 record. In 2022, Tan was part of the No. 1 pair.
 
Prior to her time at Boise State, Tan spent three years at New Mexico, two years of which were spent as a member of the beach volleyball team and three with the indoor team. For indoor, she was second on the team in blocks (108) and was named a three-time Mountain West Scholar-Athlete. In her sophomore season, she was credited with 55 kills, 33 blocks and 20 digs and ss a freshman, she collected 105 kills and 27 blocks.  

In the sand, Tan competed for the Lobos in the No. 2 and No. 3 pairs throughout her career. 
 
She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from New Mexico, Master of Science Program Evaluation, Measurement, and Statistics from Boise State, and most recently earned her second masters degree in Health and Human Performance, Excercise Physiology from McNeese.

2022  GRADUATE (Boise State):
member of a beach team that posted a 20-9 record, the first 20-win season in program history…ended the season defeating 13th ranked Cal Poly…posted a 13-13 overall record playing 12 of her matches as the No. 1 individual player…also posted a 12-13 record as the No. 1 pair and a 1-0 record as the No. 2 pair.
 
2021  GRADUATE (Boise State): played in two team duals and two pairs tournaments for a total of 11 combined matches during the season going 7-4 overall...also played several exhibition matches as the No. 6 pair...competed with Kylee Johnson in the team duals going 2-0...played alongside Maya Watkins during the two Corban University pairs tournaments going 5-4...collect a team dual victory over Utah's Hannah Stahle and Kaiya Liwanag 21-14, 21-8 on court five during a Bronco victory...defeated CSUN's Abbey Sweeting and Victoria Rogers at No. 5 pair 19-21, 21-17, 15-12 to help Boise State to team win...went 2-2 at the Corban March AVCA Pairs Tournament (March 12-13) with wins over Corban's Jacquelyn Clark and Jolinn Daviscourt 20-22, 21-15, 15-6 and Corban's Lauren Condon and Melanie Miller 28-26, 21-15...went 3-2 at the Corban April AVCA Pairs Tournament (April 2-3) defeating three Corban pairs Nicole Bantilan and Kalisi Latu 21-15, 21-15, Tyra Ching and Tessa McFetridge 21-16, 21-14 and Melanie Miller and Lauren Condon 21-17, 22-20.

2019 SOPHOMORE (New Mexico): Went 8-15 at the No. 2 court ... Was paired with Morgan Schreckler for 21 matches and Makayla Tam for two ... Wins came against Houston Baptist, Missouri Baptist, San Diego City College, Arizona Christian, Abilene Christian (twice) and Santa Clara. 

2018 FRESHMAN (New Mexico): Competed in all 23 matches for the Lobos, posting an 11-12 record primarily from the No. 3 position ... Played two matches at the No. 1 position, three at the 2's, 16 at the 3's and 2 at the 4's ... Partnered up with Chloe Crappell for 18 matches ... After a slow start to the season, finished with an 11-4 record down the stretch, including wins over No. 14/13 Florida International, the College of Charleston, CSU Bakersfield and Utah ... Went 4-2 in three-set matches, the second-most three-set wins on the team during the season 


INDOOR
2019 JUNIOR (New Mexico): Started all 30 matches and played in all 115 sets … finished second on the team with 108 total blocks (eight solo) … tallied 93 kills … recorded a career-high two service aces vs. Gonzaga (Sept. 13) … registered two solo blocks against UNLV on Nov. 19 … had the most assists (7), service aces (5) and blocks, both assists and solo, in a single season as a Lobo … led the team in total blocks in six matches …  three times tallied a career-high eight block assists, at Nevada (Oct. 17), at Utah State (Nov. 7) and at SJSU (Oct. 19) … named a Mountain West Scholar-Athlete.
 
2018 SOPHOMORE (New Mexico): Appeared in 65 sets in 19 matches, starting in five… Recorded 55 kills, hitting .146… Season-high eight kills at Idaho… Registered a service ace at San Jose State… Tallied 20 digs, five assists, one service ace… Fifth on the team in total blocks  with 33 total blocks (two solo, 31 assisted)… Accounted for 73.5 points (1.13 points per set)… Career-high two assists versus Furman… Credited with a career-high seven blocks (all assisted) versus Air Force. 
 
2017 FRESHMAN (New Mexico): Played in 29 matches, with three starts … Finished the season with 105 kills (1.25/set), reaching at least five kills 12 times … Posted a strong three-match stretch to open October, with back-to-back matches of eight kills vs. Nevada and San Jose State before tallying a career-best nine kills and .400 hitting percentage vs. San Diego State … Also tallied solid numbers vs. Wyoming and Colorado State with eight kills in both matches, and seven kills at Fresno State … Registered 27 total blocks on the season, including a career-best five at Nevada on Oct. 5 … Added 43 digs, with 11 coming in the Lobos’ win over Tennessee Tech on Sept. 15
