Box Score COLLEGE STATION, Texas—The sixth ranked Texas A&M Aggies lived up to their ranking Wednesday night by defeating McNeese 93-27 in a women's basketball contest.
"Hats off to Texas A&M," said head coach Brooks Donald Williams. "Coach Gary Blair has put together another top-notch team on the floor and we certainly struggled against them. First off, we struggled against Texas A&M and I don't want to make any excuses for the way we played but this is the toughest environment we have played in so far this season and I think this was a big eye opener for our young team."
Sophomore
Amber Donnes led the Cowgirls in scoring with seven points. Donnes was 2 of 9 from the field including one three-pointer. The Aggies had four players score in double figures. Wade Trophy candidate Courtney Williams led all players with 19 points.
The Aggies came out in a full court press and caused the Cowgirls to turn the ball over 16 times in the game, including 12 in the first half. McNeese didn't help their cause by shooting 17.9 percent from the field in the first half while the Aggies shot 57.1 percent from the field and 80.0 percent from the free throw line.
Texas A&M held a 54-14 halftime lead with 22 of their points scored in the paint and 17 off turnovers.
Texas A&M continued to build on their lead in the second half and out scored the Cowgirls 39-13 and ended the game shooting 57.6 percent from the field, 40.0 from three-point range and 78.9 from the free throw line.
McNeese ended the game shooting 17.9 percent from the field, 12.5 from three-point range and 62.5 from the free throw line.
The Cowgirls will break for the Thanksgiving holiday and will return home Dec. 3 to host Wiley College.
