Tennis Concludes Road Swing at Southern Miss and Tulane

LAKE CHARLES – The McNeese women's tennis team will conclude a near month long road swing over the weekend as the Cowgirls travel to take on Southern Mississippi on Saturday followed by a contest against Tulane on Sunday.

Saturday's match in Hattiesburg is slated to begin at 11 a.m. while Sunday's match at Tulane is schedule for a 9 a.m. serve.
 
McNeese (0-3) will look to for its first Division I victory of the season after scoring an exhibition win over junior college powerhouse Tyler Junior College last weekend before falling to Southern Methodist the next day.
 
The Cowgirls have utilized victories from freshman Hannah Brett who has scored singles wins over two nationally ranked opponents while sophomore Julia Kral scored a huge victory over SMU's Anna Kate Anderson. Kral leads all McNeese players with a 2-1 record in singles.
 
Southern Miss (4-0) comes into Saturday's match having opened the season with four straight victories, including three consecutive shutouts. Six of seven Golden Eagles team members have yet to lose a single's dual match while all three combos have not fallen to its opposition in doubles action.
 
Tulane (5-0) has posted victories over Akron and Penn State this season and have also scored decisive wins over fellow Southland Conference members New Orleans and Nicholls. The Green Wave's single's play has been highlighted by Ipek Birol who has posted a 4-0 record in dual action while the team of Birol and Jacqui Katz are also undefeated in doubles play with a 4-0 mark.
 
The Cowgirls will open up the home portion of its schedule on Friday, Feb. 20 against UTA and will follow with a contest against ULM on Monday, Feb. 23.
