LAKE CHARLES – The McNeese State women's tennis team fell for the first time in Southland Conference play on Thursday as the Cowgirls dropped a 6-1 decision to Nicholls at the Nancy Hank Tennis Center.

The loss dipped McNeese to a 6-5 overall record and 2-1 in league play while Nicholls improved to 10-2 on the year and an undefeated 4-0 mark in conference action.

The Cowgirls fell into an early deficit after Nicholls took victories on Courts 1 and 3. The Colonels would go on to take five out of the six matches in singles play. Sophomore Julia Kral captured the only singles victory for McNeese, defeating Nicholls' Klara Skopac in three sets 6-4, 4-6, 10-5.

The Cowgirls will be back in action on Saturday when they host Central Arkansas. First serve is set for 11 a.m.
