SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The McNeese State women's tennis team wrapped up its weekend road trip with a convincing 7-0 victory over Incarnate Word on Sunday.
 
With the victory, the Cowgirls improved to 9-5 overall and a 5-1 mark in Southland Conference play. McNeese stands just one victory out of first place in the league standings.
 
The loss dropped UIW to 2-16 on the season and 0-6 in conference action.
 
The match was never in doubt from the start as the Cowgirls' doubles team's clinched the first point of the match with a default win on Court One followed by a decisive 8-0 victory from the team of sophomore Julia Kral and freshman Hannah Brett on Court Two.
 
McNeese would then go on to sweep singles play. Junior Klaudia Gawlik won convincingly at the No. 1 position 6-0, 6-0 over Matea Zemunik. Kral won at the No. 2 singles slot in straight sets 6-0, 6-0 over Sarah Sevedra.
 
Brett and sophomore Vivien Borbely each took home victories at the No.3 (6-3, 6-4) and No. 4 (6-3, 6-4) spots respectively. Freshman Sarah Jurakova and junior Anastasija Trubich rounded out singles play winning at the No. 5 (6-1, 6-2) and No. 6 (6-0, 6-1) singles positions completing the 7-0 sweep for the Cowgirls.
 
McNeese will return home for mid-week conference action against Abilene Christian on Thursday, April 2 at 2 p.m. at the Nancy Hank Tennis Center. The Cowgirls will then hit the road for a pair of SLC matches against league leader Stephen F. Austin and Northwestern State.
