Cowgirl Tennis to Host UNO on Senior Day

LAKE CHARLES – The McNeese State women's tennis team will close out its regular season slate Sunday morning when it hosts the University of New Orleans for Senior day at the Nancy Hank Tennis Center with first serve scheduled for 11 a.m.

Sunday's contest will feature Senior Day activities, as the Cowgirls will take time prior to the match to recognize Andreea Nenu for her dedicated service to the team and to the university over the past four seasons.

A three-time selectee of the Southland Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll, Nenu is currently in her fourth season with the Cowgirls. During her time with McNeese, she has accrued 15 singles victories along with 20 wins in doubles play.

Nenu recently graduated with a degree in Management last fall after obtaining a 3.31 cumulative GPA. She is currently pursuing a Masters in Business Administration.

McNeese improved to 11-7 overall on the season and 7-3 in league play after defeating Southeastern Louisiana in a 4-3 decision on Friday. With a victory on Sunday and help from the rest of the field, the Cowgirls have a chance of finishing as one of the top four seeds in the standings as the squad heads to the SLC Tournament on April 24-26 at the Beaumont Municipal Tennis Center in Beaumont, Texas.

New Orleans (14-9, 4-6 SLC) is a winner of four straight contests including a league win over Incarnate Word on Friday. The Privateers look to gain ground in the race for the SLC Tournament, as it stands tied sixth place. Only eight teams are eligible for postseason play.

UNO has five members on the squad that have reached double-digit victories in singles action and are led by Soledad Calderon who has posted 10 win in the No. 1 spot.
