LAKE CHARLES – Left-hander Grant Borne fired off eight strong innings Friday night and rightfielder Darius Knight drove in three runs and scored three runs to lead Nicholls to a 13-1 win over the McNeese State baseball team at Cowboy Diamond.
The Colonels improved to 24-15-1 overall and 11-9 in the SLC while the Pokes dropped to 23-20 on the season and 13-10 in league action.
The two teams will meet in the series rubber match Sunday afternoon with first pitch slated for 1 p.m. Right-hander
Ethan Stremmel will climb the hill for the Cowboys while Nicholls will counter with righty Justin Sinibaldi.

Borne (4-4) allowed just one run on six hits in eight innings with two walks and nine strikeouts to earn the win.
Knight was 3-for-6 with a double, three RBI and three runs to pace Nicholls' 14-hit attack. Third baseman Kyle Reese contributed three hits and two RBI while second baseman Tanner Vandevere drove in a run with a double.

Bryce Kingsley (3-5) was charged with the loss as he surrendered six runs (two earned) on eight hits in 4.2 innings with two walks and three strikeouts.
The Pokes posted six hits on the evening as
Joe Provenzano led with a hit that extended his reached base streak to a team-best 19 consecutive contests.
The Colonels climbed out to a six run lead through the first five innings of the ballgame before McNeese used a two-out, bases-loaded balk to score its only run of the contest. The run was scored by senior
Connor Lloyd who finished 1-for-4 on the night.
Nicholls stretched out its lead in the next inning and plated six runs in the next two frames to go up 12 runs on the Cowboys.
McNeese was unable to get any momentum going later in the game as the final 13 batters were retired by the Colonels' pitching staff.
