Potential Rain Alters Tennis SLC Weekend Schedule

LAKE CHARLES – With a potential threat of inclement forecasted throughout the Southern region for much of the weekend, the McNeese State women's tennis team has altered the date and times of their Southland Conference matches with Stephen F. Austin and Northwestern State.

The Cowgirls' contest against Stephen F. Austin has been moved up to an 11 a.m. first serve on Friday, April 10 in Nacogdoches. The match was originally scheduled for Saturday morning.

McNeese (10-5, 6-1 SLC) is currently enjoying a four-match winning streak along with nine wins in its last 10 contests. The Cowgirls are coming off of a hard-fought victory over a tough Abilene Christian team that went down to a 4-3 results in favor of McNeese in Lake Charles last week.

The Cowgirls' upcoming weekend schedule will prove to be their toughest of the season as they take on the Ladyjacks and Lady Demons for a spot near the top of the league standings. All three squads make up the top five teams in the conference standings.

Stephen F. Austin (12-5, 6-0 SLC) stand at the top of the SLC regular season standings with wins in four of its last five contests. The Ladyjacks swept both of its league matches against Southeastern Louisiana and New Orleans last weekend.

A victory against SFA on Friday would propel McNeese into a three-way tie for the conference lead with the Ladyjacks and Nicholls.

Fans should also note that Sunday's match at Northwestern State will be monitored on a day-to-day basis with schedule changes likely to be made over the weekend. The Cowgirls are slated to face the Lady Demons at 11 a.m. in Natchitoches on Sunday.
