LAKE CHARLES – Former McNeese basketball standout
Kevin Hardy has signed a professional basketball contract with the CSU Sibiu team, a Romanian squad out of the Liga Nationala League.
Hardy, who recently graduated from McNeese with honors in engineering, averaged 13.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 2.7 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game for the Cowboys last season.
He earned Southland All-Defensive Teamn honors for the third consecutive year and was named to the all-conference third team. He was named the league's Student-Athlete of the Year for the 2013-14 season and is a three-time all-academic selection.
CSU Sibiu will begin its season in October.
Hardy joins former McNeese superstar Patrick Richard in the European League. Richard is a member of France's Chalons-Reims team. P.J. Alawoya will return to Slovakia to play for the Rieker KN team. And Kleon Penn continues to play in Puerto Rico as a member of the Bayamon organization.
Also Demond Mallet recently signed a contract with the Spanish ACB Club Joventut Badalona for the upcoming season and will have an option to be an assistant coach for the 2016-17 season.
