JONESBORO, Arkansas – McNeese track and field had a productive day at the A-State Indoor Invitational here Saturday with a couple of first place finishes and several more top five.
Oliver James won gold in the men's 1-mile race after he finished with a time of 4:15.16.
Luke Betts placed fourth in the event at 4:20.62 while
Enock Bor was seventh with a 4:27.38 clocking. James' timing is the fourth-fastest in the Southland Conference this season.
James and Betts teamed with
Olandis Johnson and
Finlay Murray to take first place in the distance medley relay with a time of 10:21.13. It's the fourth-fastest time in the league.
Competing for the first time this season in both the heptathlon and pentathlon events, the Cowboys'
Zach Dibbern finished fourth with 4,482 points which is the second highest total in the Southland Conference this season while the Cowgirls'
Maya Tunwar also finished fourth with 3,300 points, second-most in the league.
Dibbern moved up the heptathlon rankings with a first place finish in the final three events – 55-meter hurdles, pole vault and 1000-meter run.
John Lemke had a couple of fourth place finishes in both the long jump (23-1 ¾) and in the triple jump (47-2 ½) while Murray placed fourth in the 800 meters with a time of 1:57.69.
On the women's side,
Maegan Moore had a busy day with three top 7 finishes – fourth in the 55-meters (7.21), seventh in the 200 meters (25.37) and seventh in the 400 (58.91).
Alison Smegal posted a PR in the 3,000 meters with a time of 10:43.06 and again in the 800 with a mark of 2:28.50.
