Tennis Travels To UCA For Two Weekend Matches

LAKE CHARLES – The McNeese women's tennis team will be back in action this weekend as it makes the trip to Conway, Arkansas for a neutral site match against Missouri State on Saturday before the start of Southland Conference action against Central Arkansas on Sunday.

The Cowgirls (5-4) will take on Missouri State beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday and will play Central Arkansas at 9:30 a.m. Sunday morning. McNeese is looking for its first victory on the road since last defeating Middle Tennessee back on Jan. 30.

Junior Julia Kral has won three consecutive singles matches while sophomore Hannah Brett has been on a hot streak with six victories in her last nine matches. Brett and her partner Klaudia Gawlik have also won consecutive doubles contests since pairing up.

Missouri State (1-5) was defeated by SEC member Missouri, 7-0, last Saturday and is led in the top singles spot by Ema Turudija. The Bears have struggled as of late with just one victory, which came on the road. This will be the first meeting between McNeese and Missouri State.

Central Arkansas (2-2) has recorded victories at Oral Roberts and at home against Harding University this season. The Sugar Bears open up SLC action against the Cowgirls on Sunday after going up against Missouri State on Saturday. McNeese won last year's meeting against UCA, 6-1, in Conway. The Cowgirls lead the all-time series, 6-3, since first playing the Sugar Bears in 2007.

McNeese will be back at home on Saturday, Feb. 20, when the Cowgirls take on UTSA in a non-conference match. First serve is slated for 11 a.m.
