LAKE CHARLES – The McNeese women's tennis squad will celebrate the Mardi Gras holiday with an in-state bout against Louisiana Tech set to take place at the Nancy Hank Tennis Center in Lake Charles Tuesday at 2 p.m.
The Cowgirls (5-3) are coming off of a Sunday doubleheader sweep over Tyler Junior College and Prairie View A&M. McNeese has yet to lose a match on its home court in three matches this seasons.
Senior
Klaudia Gawlik stands just three singles victories from second all-time in McNeese tennis program history. The Nowy Sacz, Poland native also ranks in the top ten all-time in doubles victories.
Freshman
Giovanna Fioretti leads the team in winning percentage (.833) while she and three other Cowgirls are tied for most singles wins with five. McNeese is a combined 32-16 in singles this season with a .667 winning percentage. In doubles, Fioretti and teammate
Julia Kral lead the team with a 3-1 mark against opponents.
Louisiana Tech (3-1) is looking to extend a three-match winning streak Tuesday after having last defeated Northwestern State, 6-1, last Friday. The Lady Techsters are led by Jazmin Britos who is undefeated on the year while Alexandria Starkova holds the top spot with a 3-1 mark.
The two teams last met in 2014 when Louisiana Tech defeated McNeese, 4-3, in Lake Charles. The Cowgirls lead the all-time series against the Lady Techsters, 23-11.
Following Tuesday's match, McNeese will hit the road to Conway, Arkansas for a neutral site match against Missouri State followed by an SLC opening contest against Central Arkansas the next day.
