NEW ORLEANS – The McNeese women's tennis team closed out the regular season with a 5-2 loss on the road at the hands of a talented New Orleans squad Sunday afternoon.
 
With the regular season slate finished, the Cowgirls (14-8, 7-4 SLC) will turn their attention to the Southland Conference Tournament set for April 22-24 at the Schlief Tennis Center in Nacogdoches, Texas. McNeese will most likely enter the postseason tournament as the No. 4 seed with its opponent yet to be determined.
 
The Privateers, who improved to 14-4 overall and 7-3 in SLC play, began the day by taking the doubles point and improved its lead to a 2-0 score with a win in the No. 1 singles spot.
 
Freshman 
Giovanna Fioretti cut into the UNO lead with a 6-4, 6-2 win in the No. 2 spot but the Privateers responded by clinching the match with victories on courts three and six.
 
Fioretti finished the regular season with a 14-6 overall mark and an 8-3 record in league play
 
Senior 
Anastasija Trubich improved her singles win record to an 8-0 mark on the season with a three-set victory on court four 3-6, 6-4, 10-5. Trubich finished the regular season with a 7-0 record in SLC play.
