LAKE CHARLES – The McNeese women's tennis team hits the road to Waco, Texas this weekend to face off against a pair of Texas schools as the Cowgirls battle UT-Rio Grande Valley and Baylor.

Both contests will take place on the Baylor University campus with McNeese taking on UTRGV Saturday at 10 a.m. before its match against the Lady Bears on Sunday at 3:30 p.m.

Sunday's match against Baylor will feature live in-game scoring as well as live video with links available on McNeeseSports.com. A live blog will be available to read throughout the match on Sunday as well.

The Cowgirls (0-1) suffered a loss to in-state foe Tulane, 4-1, in their season opener on Wednesday but gained valuable experience as they head into the weekend. One of the key components to McNeese's success the last few seasons has been its non-conference schedule. Those matches have helped the Cowgirls prepare for a challenging Southland slate and this weekend is no different.

Junior Hannah Brett, who is currently riding a 16-match winning streak in singles play, looks to lead the charge. Brett came away with the Cowgirls' only point in the match at Tulane.

UTRGV (1-0) opened its season with a 5-2 victory over Prairie View A&M last week before its second match was postponed due to weather. The Vaqueros were defeated by McNeese, 6-1, last season in Waco and return four letterwinners from a year ago.

Baylor (0-0) opens the season against UTRGV before its match with the Cowgirls. The Lady Bears return six letterwinners from last season's squad that finished 18-15 along with an appearance in the NCAA Championships. Baylor slipped by McNeese, 4-3, last season in Waco.
