SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The McNeese women's tennis squad suffered a 5-2 setback at the hand of the UTSA Roadrunners, Saturday afternoon, in the first of two matches this weekend.
 
The Cowgirls' overall record fell to 1-3 while UTSA opened its season with a victory on its home court.
 
The Roadrunners earned the doubles point after coming from behind to defeat McNeese for the first point of the afternoon. The team of Hannah Brett and Charoline Erlandsson won their match, 6-3, before UTSA scored wins on Courts 1 and 2 to take the early lead.
 
In singles play, the Roadrunners took a 2-0 lead with a win in the first position but the Cowgirls were not to surrender without a fight.
 
Junior Hannah Brett extended her nation long winning streak to 18-consecutive matches with a 6-1, 6-4 win in the third spot while Sarah Jurakova tied the match up following her 6-3, 6-4 win from the second position.
 
However, UTSA would once again fight from behind and take the next three positions over McNeese and score the victory on Courts 6, 5, and 4.
 
The Cowgirls will be back in action Sunday morning when they travel to take on Texas State at 11 a.m. in San Marcos.
