LAKE CHARLES – The McNeese women's tennis squad is prepped for a long but exciting weekend as the Cowgirls make the trip to Ruston for a Saturday doubleheader with Louisiana Tech and Grambling before making their home debut against Prairie View A&M on Sunday.
Saturday's contests will begin with Louisiana Tech at 11 a.m. and will follow with a match against Grambling at 2 o'clock. Both matches will take place on the Louisiana Tech campus.
Sunday's home opener is set for a 1 p.m. start against the Lady Panthers at the Nancy Hank Tennis Center.
McNeese (1-4) looks to snap a three-match losing skid this weekend after taking last week off to rest. The Cowgirls have faced just one Louisiana opponent so far this season in a 4-1 loss to Tulane.
Junior
Hannah Brett continues to lead the charge in singles play as she rides a 19-match winning streak into the weekend. Brett is 4-0 so far on the season from the No. 3 position.
Louisiana Tech (3-3) has won two out of its last three matches including wins over Sam Houston State and UAB. The Lady Techsters will play just their second home match of the season when they face off against McNeese Saturday morning. McNeese leads the all-time series with Louisiana Tech, 23-12.
Grambling (0-3) took on Oral Roberts in a trio of matches to start of the season but has not played a match since Jan. 28. The last time that McNeese and the Tigers faced off occurred in 2013 when the Cowgirls picked up a 7-0 win in Grambling.
Prairie View A&M (0-10) has struggled as of late with its last losses coming against Stephen F. Austin and Northeastern State back on Feb. 4. The Lady Panthers are 0-6 against Southland Conference teams this season, all of who were from Texas. This will be the just the second meeting in the all-time series.
