RUSTON – The McNeese women's tennis squad split a pair of in-state matchups Saturday afternoon as the Cowgirls were downed by Louisiana Tech, 5-0, before defeating Grambling, 4-0, to cap off the day.
 
Following Saturday's results, McNeese's record is now 2-5 overall on the season. The Cowgirls saw the end of the nation's longest winning streak as junior Hannah Brett was defeated in the first match of the day.
 
McNeese makes its way back to Lake Charles to open up the home portion of its schedule against Prairie View A&M Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. at the Nancy Hank Tennis Center.

The Cowgirls were taken down by in-state rival Louisiana Tech, 5-0, in the first match of the day as the Lady Techsters shutout the Cowgirls. It was the first time this season that McNeese had been shut out by an opponent.
 
Louisiana Tech took the doubles point before taking wins on Courts 1, 3, 4 and 5. Brett was down after the first set but rallied back to tie things up before Louisiana Tech's Nadia Manjon took the last set for the 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 victory.
 
Three more matches were pushed to three sets as Sarah Jurakova and Phonexay Chitdara's matches went unfinished in the third set while Charoline Erlandsson was defeated 6-2, 2-6, 6-2 in the fifth position.

The Cowgirls swept the doubles point by a combined score of 18-2 before shutting down the Tigers in singles play.
