Tennis Battles ULM Saturday In Home Matchup

LAKE CHARLES – The McNeese women's tennis squad steps back on the court Saturday as the Cowgirls face off against in-state foe ULM at Nancy Hank Tennis Center with first serve set for noon.

Free pizza will be served to those in attendance while supplies last.

The Cowgirls (3-5) look to extend their winning streak Saturday after taking down Grambling, 4-0, and Prairie View A&M, 6-1, last week. McNeese 1-2 against in-state opponents this season and 1-0 at home.

Junior Hannah Brett enters with a 6-1 overall singles record and a two-match consecutive winning streak while sophomore Charoline Erlandsson has also won two in a row.

In doubles, Giovanna Fioretti and Sarah Jurakova captured a perfect 3-0 record in last week's play in the No. 1 position. The Cowgirls swept the doubles against Prairie View A&M, the second time this season they accomplished the task.

ULM (4-1) will go head-to-head with its third Southland Conference foe after capturing wins against Sam Houston State and Stephen F. Austin earlier this season. The Warhawks are on a four-match win streak after dropping the season opener to #15 Auburn.

ULM has five players who have won three or more consecutive singles matches, highlighted by Petra Horakova's five match streak. The Warhawks as a team are 22-5 in singles play this season.

Following Saturday's match, the Cowgirls will travel to UL-Lafayette on Tuesday for a 3:30 p.m. contest.
