LAKE CHARLES – Although only one match awaits the McNeese tennis squad this weekend, it will be a big task for the Cowgirls as they welcome Abilene Christian to the Nancy Hank Tennis Center Saturday afternoon for an 11 a.m. first serve.
 
Fans who attend Saturday's match will be treated to free pizza while supplies last. The weather is forecasted to be mostly sunny with a high of 78 degrees.
 
Both McNeese and Abilene Christian are vying to stay alive in the race for the Southland Conference regular season championship. The Cowgirls are 3-1 in league action while the Wildcats enter the weekend with a 2-1 mark.
 
The last four seasons have seen ACU take an advantage in the all-time series particularly on its home court. However, McNeese holds a 1-1 record over the Wildcats at the Hank Tennis Center, including a 4-3 victory in 2015.
 
The Cowgirls split SLC matches with Stephen F. Austin and Northwestern State last week and will only play one this weekend before hitting the road for crucial matches at A&M-Corpus Christi and Incarnate Word.
 
McNeese is a combined 14-10 in singles action with Hannah Brett, Giovanna Fioretti and Sarah Jurakova holding 3-1 records. The team of Charoline Erlandsson and Vivien Borbely have yet to be defeated in conference doubles play and hold a 4-0 mark.
 
Abilene Christian's only conference loss came to Central Arkansas at the beginning of the month but rolled to defeat Lamar and Sam Houston State by a combined score of 8-4.
 
ACU's Lucile Pothier leads the attack with a 3-0 record in Southland play while she and partner Whitney Williams have yet to be defeated in doubles.
 
The Wildcats are 0-3 on the road this season with its last match away from home taking place back in January.
