LAKE CHARLES – The McNeese women's squad was unable to pull out a victory on Senior Day as the Cowgirls dropped a 6-1 decision to Central Arkansas in their last home match of the regular season.
 
The loss brought McNeese to 9-10 overall on the season and 4-4 in league play while the solid UCA Bears improved to 15-5 this year and 4-2 in the Southland.
 
Following the match, the Cowgirls recognized their only senior with a tribute to Vivien Borbely. Borbely has been a member of the tennis team since 2014 and has been honored as an ITA and Southland Conference All-Academic performer.
 
Central Arkansas grabbed the early advantage by taking courts two and three in doubles. The duo of Sarah Jurakova and Hannah Brett defeated the Bears' Pornpawee Pramethong and Hee-Jin Oh 6-4 to tie up the doubles results after UCA took a win in the No. 1 spot. However, the Bears rebounded and took a win in the third position for the first point.
 
The Bears claimed all six first sets in singles to gain full control of the match. Marli Van Heerdaen took down Borbely 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 5 spot while Pramething posted a 6-4, 6-4 result against Giovanna Fioretti in the top spot to extend UCA's lead.
 
On court three, Sarah Jurakova was defeated by QiLi Ma 6-3, 6-3 to help Central Arkansas clinch the league match.
 
The Bears took wins in positions four and two while Stella Carra recorded the only point of the match for McNeese as defeated Rada Manataweewat in three sets 4-6, 7-5, 10-4 in the last spot.
 
The Cowgirls will hit the road for a pair of SLC matchups this weekend starting at Lamar on Saturday and concluding with a contest against Sam Houston State on Sunday.
