Graf falls short of advancing in steeplechase

LEXINGTON, Kentucky – Christoph Graf was McNeese's last hope to advance to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships when he competed in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase late Friday night at the 2017 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field East Preliminary meet.

Unfortunately the Southland Conference champion in the event came up short in advancing after he finished 40th with a time of 9:21.83.

Graf competed in the event despite fracturing both arms after tripping over the first barrier of the final lap at the SLC outdoor championships two weeks ago.

Earlier in the year, the Switzerland native broke the longest running record in McNeese school history, a 38-year old mark in the steeplechase.

Graf's run on Friday night closes out the 2017 track season for McNeese.
