EUGENE, Oregon – Former McNeese All-American javelin thrower Donavon Banks placed fourth on Thursday at the 2025 Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships at Hayward Field.
The Shreveport native, who is ranked No. 51 in the world, threw 250-feet, 6-inches (76.36 meters). He finished the first round in second place to move into the finals.
He marked on two of his six throws, tossing his scored mark on his first attempt then threw 246-2 (75.03m) in his fourth attempt.
Prior to this meet, Banks finished second at the Mikkeli Games in Finland on July 18 by throwing 77.80m. He's placed in the top three in each of his last six meets, including second place finishes at the USATF Throws Festival in May (81.92m) and at the Iron Wood Classic in June (75.60m).
Last summer, Banks placed third at the U.S. Track & Field Olympic Trials but did not qualify for last summer's Olympic Games due to not meeting the Olympic standard.
