HOUSTON, Texas- McNeese volleyball capped off its weekend by capturing the Flo Hyman Collegiate Cup with a 3-1 (25-11, 19-25, 25-12, 25-20) win over Stetson here Saturday morning to end tournament play with a 3-0 record and improved to 6-4 on the season.

Rae Myers was named the tournament's MVP while sophomores
Keegan Nelms and
Angela McGownd were named to the all-tournament team.

"We played two hard matches Friday, had a really short turnaround and our tanks were pretty empty this morning," said head coach
Ashleigh Fitzgerald. "This group showed a lot of maturity being able to overcome that and finding a way to handle a very tough, hard nosed Stetson team who just wouldn't go away. I'm just really proud of our team."

Myers ended her weekend with 10 kills against the Hatters and a .333 hitting percent and was joined in double figure kills by
Shanna Spree's career high 15. Nelms recorded a double-double with 11 kills and 15 digs.

For the second straight match, McGownd led all players in digs, picking up 24. Both Cowgirl setters also recorded double-doubles with
Adison Giambrone dishing out 23 assists along with 13 digs while
Alexandra Aguilera dished out 20 assists with 15 digs.

McNeese opened the match with a slim 25-21 win to take a 1-0 lead before dropping the second set 19-25. The Cowgirls went up 2-1 with a 25-12 third set win then closed out the match 25-20 to claim the tournament title.

The win extended the Cowgirls' winning streak to four matches.
