McNEESE NOTES LAMAR NOTES
LAKE CHARLES – McNeese will bid farewell to 18 seniors prior to Saturday afternoon's Southland Conference and regular season finale when the Cowboys host Lamar.
Kick-off is set for 3 p.m. at Cowboy Stadium. The game will air live on ESPN3 and on the ESPN mobile apps.
McNeese (6-4, 5-3 SLC) still has a chance to slide into the FCS playoffs but will need to beat a Lamar team (6-4, 5-3) that's the hottest in the league with five straight wins heading into the game.
"We're going to go out and have fun," said head coach
Lance Guidry. "We're going to try to win the game and have fun doing it. I think we have a really good game plan for Lamar."
The Cardinals will enter the game ranked No. 1 in the league in rushing offense. Lamar will use two, dual-threat quarterbacks in the process.
"Both of them are really good and athletic players," said Guidry.
McNeese will be without the services of Buck Buchanan Award candidate, linebacker B.J. Blunt as well as starting free safety
Jovon Burriss. Burriss suffered a concussion on the opening kick at Northwestern State last week while Blunt sprained his knee on the final kick of regulation.
Cowboys' quarterback
James Tabary will get the start in what could be his final game at McNeese.
"It's been a great three years," said Tabary who transferred to McNeese from Arkansas State following his freshman campaign. "I wouldn't change it for anything in the world."
