LAKE CHARLES – The McNeese Cowgirl tennis team is looking to hit the road for the first time this season, heading northeast to UL-Monroe on Sunday to take on the Warhawks at Raymond Heard Stadium at 12:00 p.m.
 
The Cowgirls were originally scheduled to play Eastern Michigan in Beaumont last week for their first road match but were halted by the high possibility of inclement weather in the area.

McNeese (4-0) junior Charoline Erlandsson will lead the charge for McNeese after being named the Southland Women's Tennis Player of the week. Erlandsson has not conceded a set in singles competition this year.

As a team, McNeese has not dropped a doubles-set so far this year. Along with Erlandsson senior Sarah Jurakova, junior Giovanna Fioretti, and sophomore Phonexay Chitdara are also undefeated in singles matches.

McNeese hosted ULM last season, at the Nancy Hank Tennis Center.  The team took an early 1-0 lead against ULM by winning the doubles point but eventually fell 5-2 to the Warhawks.
 
The Cowgirls dropped the no. 3 doubles before Jurakova and Hannah Brett evened the doubles match with a 6-4 win at no. 1. Vivian Borbely teamed with Erlandsson at the no.2 doubles to pick up a 7-5 win to clinch the doubles point for the Cowgirls.
 
Over the last nine meetings, the Cowgirls have been defeated six times- thrice on the road and thrice at home. McNeese's last win in Monroe came in 2014, when the Cowgirls took down the Warhawks, 5-2.
