Box Score MONROE, La – The McNeese women's tennis team dropped its first match of the season, falling to the University of Louisiana at Monroe on Monday, 4-1.
 
ULM and McNeese were originally set to play on Sunday, but due to inclement weather were forced to push the face-off to Monday morning.
 
The Cowgirls started the day off on top, winning the doubles point as the first two finishes weighed in favor of McNeese.
 
Duo Charoline Erlandsson and Phonexay Chitdara finished first in the number three spot, taking down ULM's freshman-pair Karolina Silwanowicz and Florencia Salerno (6-3).
 
Following Erlandsson's and Chitdara's victory, came Giovanna Fioretti and Marjia Mastilovic in the number two spot. Fioretti and Mastilovic took down Warhawks Madalina Grigoriu and Bianca Koen (6-3) clinching the doubles win for the Cowgirls.
 
Unfortunately, that's where McNeese's luck had stopped. The Warhawks managed to claim the first four wins during singles competition, clinching the win for ULM.
 
The Cowgirls have an exciting week ahead of them as they travel west to New Orleans and Hammond to face UNO and SLU on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
