Box Score LAKE CHARLES – The McNeese tennis squad played lights out today defeating Southland Conference foe UIW 7-0 without dropping a set.

The Cowgirls (9-2, 6-1 SLC) set the tone of today's match in doubles play against UIW (3-13, 1-4 SLC) winning the team point in two sets.

For the first time in five matches the doubles point did not sit on the shoulders of Sarah Jurakova and Hannah Brett. The Cowgirl duo made easy work of Matea Zemunik and Victoria Kareh defeating the pair 6-1.

Giovanna Fioretti and Marija Mastilovic would go on to clinch the overall point for McNeese in the number two spot. UIW's Sara Djurdjevic and Rachel Sadiq fought hard against the Cowgirl duo to no avail dropping the set 6-4.

McNeese's Charoline Erlandsson and Phonexay Chitdara would compete against Jelena Dordan and Alejandra Tamayo with the set ending in no result.

Erlandsson was the first to finish in singles play at the number five spot. She defeated Alejandra Landaluce by a score of 6-1 in consecutive sets to secure the second team point for the Cowgirls.

In the number four spot Marija Mastilovic went on to blank UIW's Djurdjevic in straight sets by a score of 6-0 in both.

With a chance to clinch the match point Brett would not falter, defeating Kareh by a score of 6-2 in straight sets.

With the team victory clinched the Cowgirls did not let up and continued to dominate the courts.

In the number two spot Jurakova triumphed over her UIW counterpart after defeating Dordan 6-1 and 6-2.

In the number one spot Fioretti would defeat Zemunik 6-2 and 6-4 to give the Cowgirls a commanding 6-0 lead on the day.

Chitdara was the last to finish. Chitdara would make easy work of Tamayo in their first set, defeating her 6-3. In their second set Chitdara and Tamayo would battle to the end before Chitdara secured a 7-5 victory securing the shit out.

The Cowgirls will have a rest day tomorrow before facing off with defending conference champions Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Monday at noon.
