McNeese track and field to hold annual Blue/Gold Meet

| By:
LAKE CHARLES - The McNeese Cowboy and Cowgirl track and field programs will be competing in their annual Blue & Gold intrasquad meet on Sunday and Monday at the Bill and Lena Henning Track Complex.
Events will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday and 1:30 on Monday.

The meet is open to the public and free of admission but the track program is asking for those attending to bring an item to donate towards "Toys for Tots" which is McNeese Athletic's largest community service project of the season.

On the women's side, the Cowgirls are returning two All-Americans in javelin thrower Morgan Woods and multi-events competitor Grace McKenzie; conference champion thrower Alanna Arvie; and runner up in the 60-meter 100-meter dash Aleyah Donald.  The women are also returning the No. 8-ranked triple jump squad in the nation that featured three freshmen and one junior.  The Cowgirls produced their best recruiting class in recent memory so this year's meet is looking to be as competitive as ever.

On the men's side, redshirt senior and conference champion javelin thrower Donovan Banks will be competing in his last season as a Cowboy.   The Cowboys are also returning junior distance runner Miguel Barera-Lopez who placed third last year in the 10,000-meter run.  Graduating only three seniors last year, the Cowboys are still a very young team with a tremendous amount of talent.  The Blue & Gold meet will be a great showcase for what's to come this year and years to come from the Cowboys.

With the indoor track and field season coming up, this will give the Cowboys and Cowgirls a good indication on where they are stacking up and indications on how the season could go this year for both squads.
