COLLEGE STATION, Texas— McNeese softball split its games on day 2 of the Texas A&M Aggie Invitational Saturday with a 5-1 win over Liberty then ended the day with a 2-1 (8 inning) loss to Rutgers to even its record to 5-5 on the season. The Cowgirls will conclude tournament action with a 12:15 p.m. game against 22
nd ranked Texas A&M on Sunday.
GAME 1 vs. Liberty

nd Inning- McNeese took a 1-0 lead when
Megan Holmes got things started with a one out single up the middle then scored on a two out RBI double down the left field line by
Sara Geier.

th Inning- The Cowgirls scored four runs on one hit and took advantage of two Liberty errors to extend the lead to 5-0.
Brenique Wright, Holmes scored on fielder's choices for a 3-0 lead then
Justyce McClain hit her first triple of the season to score
Taylor Edwards for a 4-0 lead. McClain then scored on an error for a 5-0 lead.

th Inning- Liberty avoided the shutout with a solo homerun from Madison Via
NOTES: McClain led McNeese at the plate with two hits including a triple. Geier had a double with two RBI.
Alexsandra Flores improved to 3-1 on the year with complete game win. She allowed one earned run on three hits with a season high six strikeouts.
GAME 2 vs. Rutgers

st Inning-
Justyce McClain led the Cowgirl half of the inning with a walk then stole second before scoring on a triple to right field by
Demi Boudreaux for a 1-0 lead.

th Inning- Rutgers tied the game on a two out RBI single between shortstop and third base by Nicole Bowman

th Inning- The International tiebreaker was in effect and Rutgers' Erin Collins was placed on second base to begin the inning. A sacrifice bunt by Myah Moy advanced pinch runner Christine Malito to third. Rutgers took a 2-1 lead on a Cowgirl throwing error that allowed Malito to score.
In the bottom of the 8
th for McNeese, McClain was placed on second base and moved to third on a ground out to second base by pinch hitter
Aubree Turbeville. The game ended when Boudreaux grounded into a double play hit to the third baseman who tagged McClain then threw to first to get Boudreaux out to end the game.
NOTES: McNeese picked up four hits in the game including two extra base hits.
Tayler Strother picked up a double besides Boudreaux's double.
Caroline Settle (1-3) took the loss in the complete game, giving up three hits and allowed one earned run.
