AUSTIN –
Alanna Arvie and
Grace McKenzie were the top highlights for the McNeese track and field team on day two of the 92
nd Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays here Thursday.
Arvie set a new school record in the hammer throw with a mark of 192-feet, 6-inches while McKenzie finished fourth in the heptathlon with 5,609 points, just 10 points away from her own school record.
McKenzie took control in two of the three events on the day, winning both the long jump (19-11.5) and the 800-meter run (2:14.46). Her long jump set a new personal record for the indoor all-American and ranks as the fourth-best in school history.
In other action,
Luke Horgan, running in his first meet this outdoor season, set a new PR in the 1500-meters with a sixth place time of 4:02.55.
Brian Flanagan finished sixth in the 3000-meter steeplechase at 9:20.15 and
Morgan Frederick clocked a 1:00.79 in the men's 400-meter hurdles. In the women's 400 hurdles,
Rachel Woods finished with a time of 1:07.17.
At the Texas State Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos,
Darko Radakovic placed 17
th in the discus with a throw of 151-8.
Both meets will continue on Friday.
