McKenzie clocks PR in 800m to cap heptathlon at Bryan Clay

AZUSA, Calif. –
Grace McKenzie capped off the heptathlon at the Bryan Clay Invitational here Thursday with a personal record time in the 800-meters at 2:11.21.
 
The All-American finished in eighth place with 5,599 points after entering the day in 10th place but was the fourth-highest collegiate finisher.
 
She opened the day with a fifth place finish in the long jump with a mark of 19-6.75. That was followed with throw of 98-11 in the javelin throw to finish 11th in the event.
 
The junior ended the competition by finishing second in the 800-meters with a mark that moved her up to No. 3 in the Southland Conference rankings.
 
Georgia Ellenwood, competing for Under Armour, won the event with 6,135 points while Hope Bender of UC Santa Barbara was the top collegiate finisher with 5,940 points.
