LAKE CHARLES – The McNeese Cowboys baseball team will head north on Wednesday to take on the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs at J.C. Love Field. First pitch will be scheduled for 6 p.m. and Cowboy fans can watch the game on Tech's live stream or follow the Live Stats of the game on mcneesesports.com.
McNeese has played Tech each of the last 17 years in a home and home or three-game series dating back to 2003.
The Cowboys last beat the Bulldogs in 2017 at Joe Miller Ballpark by the score of 5-3 after McNeese came back from an early 3-0 deficit. The last time the Cowboys beat the Bulldogs in Ruston was back in 2014, head coach
Justin Hill's first year at McNeese, when the Cowboys hung 20 runs on the Bulldogs in a 20-3 victory.
Freshman right-hander
Brett Payne is expected to get his second straight mid-week start on Wednesday. Payne made his second start of the season against LSU last Tuesday and was masterful, pitching 6.0 shutout innings, giving up only two hits, and struck out five batters for his first win of the year over the nationally ranked Tigers.
McNeese, who will then travel to Conway, Arkansas for a three-game Southland Conference series at UCA, won't return home until April 12 when it opens up a weekend series against New Orleans.
