LAKE CHARLES—McNeese women's volleyball will play its final tune-up match Saturday when the Cowgirls travel to Ruston for a 1 p.m. exhibition match against Louisiana Tech.
"We are excited to see someone else across the net in Ruston this weekend," said head coach
Ashleigh Fitzgerald. "We played Louisiana Tech in the spring and we know they will play with a ton of grit and enthusiasm, so we will have to match their intensity level."
The Cowgirls have been practicing for the past two and a half weeks in preparation for the regular season opener at the Robert Morris Sheraton Invitational Aug. 30-31.
McNeese will open its home slate in the new H&HP Complex on Sept. 3 against Houston.
"Our staff has been pretty pleased with practice so far. The level of competition is higher than it has been in years past, but you just don't know what kind of team you are and what you need to work on until you play someone else. We are going to play a few different lineups to see what works and what doesn't work, and then we'll just set about making a few tweaks before our season officially kicks off Labor Day weekend in Pittsburgh."
