Former Track Standouts Excelling in Professional Careers

LAKE CHARLES – A handful of former McNeese track and field athletes have been performing quite well this summer in their respective events on the professional circuit.
 
Stephen Scullion, who ran for the Cowboys in 2008, recently finished in first place in the 10,000 meters at the Irish Championships wit a time of 29:36.33.
 
The Ireland native is currently running for Under Armour.
 
Former Cowgirl Lauren Thompson place second in the 400-meter hurdles at the English National Track and Field Championships back on July 28. She also finished first in the 400 meters and the 100m hurdles at the Southern Athletics League Division 3 North back in June.
 
After her finish at the English National T&F Championships, Thompson, who ran for the Cowgirls in 2014 and 2015, received an invite to represent England at the Manchester International Track & Field Meet beginning Aug. 14.
 
Another Cowboy runner, Martin Degulste who donned the blue and gold from in the 2012-13 season, recently had a fifth place finish in the 10k at the Belgian Nationals Track and Field Championships.
 
Former sprinter Charles Jackson continues to have success in his professional career. Jackson recently competed in the 200-meters at the US Track and Field Outdoor Championships, finishing seventh against some of the world's fastest competition.
 
Also, former Cowboy Jarrett LeBlanc, who will compete for an Olympic spot at the Olympic Marathon Trials in February, recently announced a warm-up to that event by being accepted to run at the New York City Marathon in November.
