LAKE CHARLES—McNeese volleyball rebounded from last weekend's showing at the Sawyer Camillo Memorial Classic with its best hitting percent of the season Tuesday night on its way to a straight set 3-0 (25-14, 25-19, 25-11) home win over Texas Southern to begin a four-match home stand that will conclude with its own round robin Sept. 20.
"It was nice to rebound from last weekend with a win at home," said head coach
Ashleigh Fitzgerald. "Our right sides contributed tonight, and we served well. We are thankful for a weekend off so we can get some recovery and quality practices in as we ramp up for conference play in a little over two weeks."
McNeese evened its record to 4-4 on the year while Texas Southern dropped to 1-5.
As a team, the Cowgirls hit .280 on the night along with a season high 11 service aces.
Allison Lippert and
Keegan Nelms both contributed with three aces apiece.
Freshman
Macee Krpec came off the bench to lead McNeese in kills with10 and a scorching .600 hitting percent. Krpec committed only one hitting error in 15 attempts.
Setters
Caitlin Sharrock and
Kendall Kilchrist both dished out double figure assists with 19 and 13, respectively. Senior libero continued her solid play in the back line with 18 digs.
McNeese will have a week of and will return to the H&HP Complex next Tuesday, Sept. 17 to host Prairie View in a 6:30 p.m. match.
